Announcing: SEED Closed Beta
On September 16th, SEED enters Closed Beta. For the first time, a larger group of players will be able to step onto the planet Avesta and begin shaping their own societies, forging connections, and leaving their mark on a living, breathing world rich emergent potential.
What is SEED?
SEED isn’t just one genre. We’ve created a unique mix of life sim, MMO, and society builder, woven together into something brand new. It’s not about following any one scripted story or a single “right” way to play. Instead, SEED is a true open sandbox where players’ choices ripple outward, influencing not just their Seedlings but the societies, economies, and alliances that are built over time.
As Isabelle, our Co-CEO, puts it: “We’re creating a sandbox where players craft their own experiences for each other. While we have some ideas about what they may experience, we’re always surprised by the way players use our tools to create things.”
The thing is, in SEED each and every action matters. That means each camp, each political system, each production chain is built by and for the players themselves. So our role is rather simple: to keep the sandbox filled with sand and an exciting range of tools let them build whatever they dream up. We can’t wait to see what our Cultivators dream up and create!
What does Closed Beta Mean?
Starting September 16, we will open up Avesta to a group of selected players. Together, they will start an incredible journey that will include:
Building societies from the ground up, starting from the camp stage onwards.
Collecting resources like clay and lumber to produce and craft other important items.
Creating food production to sustain their communities.
Cultivating meaningful relationships with their Seedlings but also with each other.
Experimenting with politics, trade, and much, much more.
But remember this is just the beginning! SEED is designed to evolve alongside its players, and the planet Avesta, this endless sandbox playground, is only going to keep on growing alongside them all. .
Title Updates: Every Two Weeks
During Closed Beta, SEED is going to enjoy Title Updates every two weeks. These updates will ensure regular waves of new content, balance changes, as well as continuous bug fixes. This will keep Avesta alive and evolving, ensuring that our players have new features and tools to play and experiment with. It really is going to be a living, breathing planetary system we’re all terraforming together!
Monetization: How Access and In-Game Currency Work
At the start of Closed Beta, we will be giving out Society Kernels (how you start your own Society) and Seedlings (your virtual humans) to invited players as we focus on fixing bugs, fine-tuning balance, and improving the overall experience. Because SEED is a persistent simulation, and your Seedling continues living and working in Avesta even when you’re offline, the game comes with higher server and infrastructure costs than most traditional online games. This is why we have to charge per Seedling life. Our pricing for game access and bundles will continue to evolve as we gather data and feedback. Final pricing will be announced before Early Access next year.
Inside the game, there are two currencies that power Avesta’s economy:
Seedcoin – This is the earned currency your Seedling receives through work, trade, or other contributions. It can be used to buy goods in the marketplace or even pay salaries if your Seedling runs a business. Your Seedlings each have their own Seedcoin wallet.
Pollen – This is a premium currency that can be purchased with real money and is primarily used to unlock additional Seedling lives. You can exchange Seedcoin for Pollen (and vice versa), but Pollen itself cannot be gifted. Your Pollen wallet is a part of your player account.
Every Seedling has a natural lifespan of three months. When a Seedling’s time comes to an end, you’ll need to use Pollen to bring new lives into Avesta. If a bug ever causes your Seedling to die unexpectedly, you can reach out to Support, and we’ll replace it.
Since Closed Beta is a time of change and testing, server wipes may occasionally be necessary. If that happens, don’t worry, you’ll keep the same number of Seedlings you had before the wipe, and any Pollen in your account will carry over into the new deployment.
This dual-currency system is designed to keep Avesta’s economy dynamic while ensuring that every player, whether they’re trading lumber, running a political system, or building the biggest bakery on the planet, can find their own way to thrive.
A Glimpse at SEED 0.2
But we’re not resting on our laurels just yet: In January 2026, SEED 0.2 will expand the scope of the game with a whole host of significant new systems. These include construction for more permanent structures, mechanics around living standards to reflect quality of life, new layers of Seedling ownership and personalization, as well as farming and tools to grow the in-game economy. As if that wasn’t enough, a town hall system as well as service locations (think businesses, franchises and more) will also be introduced, further developing the social and political fabric of Avesta.
We’ve been working for years now to get here and we’re stoked to share with you all Closed Beta; a milestone not just for our studio, but for the vision of SEED itself. It’s a chance to see societies take shape in Avesta, to watch ideas turn into structures, and to witness how people build together when given the tools and freedom to create.
